    Winemaker's Notes:

Graceful and beautifully balanced, the 2006 Sterling Vineyards SVR offers spicy deep plum and berry aromas laced with licorice, cedar, violet, dried herbs and Asian five-spice. The rich, concentrated cassis, caramel and toffee flavors are expansive and weighty. Fine-grain tannins softly structure the opulent flavors, while spicy cloves notes from barrel aging linger on the long, fruit-imbued finish. As one of our top-tier reserve wines, the SVR celebrates the synergy between Bordeaux-style grape varietals with an artistic blend focused on finesse and seductive layers of fruit expression.

    Critical Acclaim:

Beautiful now, with decanting, due to the generous fruit flavors and the way the oak shows them off. Dry and smooth, it brims with blackberry, cherry, red and black currant, blueberry, cocoa, anise and sandalwood and smoky flavors that go on and on. Should age, too. Mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, with Merlot and Petit Verdot.

Lively purple hue with a fuchsia rim. Fresh plum, blueberry and vanilla aromas. Rich layers of blackberry, toasted oak and mineral. Stylish, lengthy finish with plenty of promising black fruit.

This blend is much better than the Wine New ratings state! I know I enjoy a Blend/Meritage more than the average RED drinker, but as you can see I have purchased my share. I am still enjoying.

We took a few days off and went to the beach. Too cold to swim but this was one of the bottles we popped for casual drinking. Still young but improved steadily after opening. Nice fruit and balance after several hours. This has now become a regular favorite.

Very drinkable now and will age well. Great nose, with lots of fruit, blackberry, maybe plum, and a long stay around finish. This wine is unfiltered so a little sediment, but I really like it.

Received the shipment and opened the first bottle. The cork had "bleeding" which, I believe is from being subjected to heat. Nevertheless, the wine looked fine and tasted great.

A wonderful Bordeaux-style blend, with plenty of fruit to keep new-worlders interested. Complex bouquet, deep ruby color, solid structure, supple tannins, and rich blackberry notes that impressed. Give it plenty of breathing time, or cellar and enjoy later - this one will age gracefully!

Needs time - make sure to decant for an hour or more - still good, very tannic - I did enjoy but hoped for more

one would think with the professional reviews that this would be a nice tasting wine. To the contrary I agree with another reviewer that it had too much tannin. If it was too young then fine say that. I could have gotten the same taste from a $10 bottle. I was disappointed to say the least.
