The 2007 La Rinconada Pinot Noir is exclusively sourced from our estate vineyard in the esteemed Sta. Rita Hills AVA. Dijon clones 667, 777 and 114 planted on a well drained west facing slope, give great intensity and complexity. The wine is deep ruby red in color and is exploding with bing cherry and black raspberry aromas, with a hint of anise and cola. The palate delivers flavors of plum and cherry framed nicely by bright acidity and ripe mouth coating tannins.
Tight, focused, complex and layered, this is Burgundian in its structure, with full-bodied plum, black cherry, wild berry, floral and spicy, peppery scents that are delivered on a beam of acidity. Drink now through 2016.
Tasted in early Spring, this Pinot was dark, jammy and resistant, as if it were shyly hiding its pleasures beneath a cloak of tannin and acidity. It needs time to express its core of black cherries, anise and sandalwood. Give it until mid-2010, and it should develop through 2014.
