    Winemaker's Notes:

Dressed in fresh purple red color, this is a voluptuous Pinot Noir with rich fruit notes of cherry, raspberry, plum and strawberry – a red fruit party! – enhanced by subtle smoked hints. In mouth sweet fruit notes stand out, and its fine tannins give it a great texture and a mouth filling structure. Balanced and New World styled, this is a wine of personality and elegance. Sexy, pure and simple, it's a young and refreshing Pinot.

Our Cono Sur Pinot Noir is a great choice for all sorts of pasta, grilled poultry, seafood and mild fish. It's also excellent when accompanying dishes served with pesto sauces. If ordering in, mushroom pizza and sushi go great with this wine.

I found this to be a good, basic pinot, fruity with modest tannins and balanced acidity. Quite drinkable and pleasant when opened, it did not sit well in the bottle (stored under vacuum), and by the third day the remnants were relegated to cooking wine.

While Southern France producers have had troubles identifying Pinot Noir, that is not the problem with this excellent Pinot. Cono Sur is under the guidance of the dynamic Adolfo Hurtado. This entry level Pinot Noir from Cono Sur drinks like a much pricier one. The wine is a bit rustic with some excellent red fruit character and good length in the finish. Smooth and surprisingly long finish for such an affordable Pinot Noir.

I read about this wine in Wine magazine. It was nice but not what I thought. I was hoping to find a "great steal" but found it to be just mediocre ... good table wine but not one to boast about.

It was worse than I expected for a wine bearing this price tag. The flavor is too aggressive and it presents an acidic background.
