    Winemaker's Notes:

This is without a doubt the most dark, complex and age-worthy expression of Freeman Russian River Valley Pinot Noir we have ever produced. Embodying the character of the monumental 2007 vintage (and not a shift in winemaking styles), this wine displays remarkable color that is significantly darker than past bottlings. The aroma offers an intriguing nose of earth, tar and oak, followed by a lush palate filled with an array of berry fruits. Though still slightly backwards at this early stage in its development, this sophisticated wine is drinking remarkably well at a young age. We are predicting a lifespan through 2014, and probably much longer.

    Critical Acclaim:

Medium-deep ruby color; aromas of red cherry and cinnamon; rich and full with spicy red cherry flavors and notes of cinnamon and sweet oak; silky texture; good structure and balance; long finish. Spicy, lush Pinot that has the silky texture that is almost a trademark of the Freeman Pinots. Delicious.

Bright red. Zesty strawberry and raspberry on the nose. Sweet, vanilla-accented red berry preserve flavors are nicely concentrated and firmed by gentle tannins. Gains weight and power with air, finishing with a refreshing bite of bitter cherry skin and good length.

Fairly fruity at first sniff and even with a hint of brush coming up later on, this wine stays nicely on point because its distinctly red cherry fruitiness never gives in to the brush or its slight whiff of roasted coffee. Full but not heavy, picking up some youthful zest and energy in the latter palate and holding on to its fruit to the end, it will work with grilled steaks today and should age into a smoother working with brief cellaring .

A bit young but after an hour in the decanter became the wine we wanted. Big and Bold. A olid effort.
