    Winemaker's Notes:

Very dark garnet in color, this Pinot is a positive explosion of big ripe black cherry fruit. The aromas are enhanced by hints of cinnamon and clove. In the mouth the wine is full and luscious, soft and round, but with lots of impact. The balance is nearly perfect. Almost too delicious not to drink now, but should still age quite nicely.

    Critical Acclaim:

Medium ruby color; spicy red cherry and toasty aromas; rich, ripe, spicy red cherry flavors with some sweet oak and silky texture; good structure and balance; long finish. Spicy, tasty Pinot with delicious flavors — this Pinot will go with just about anything on the table.

Shows the lusciousness and silky texture you want in a good Pinot Noir. With oak-inspired flavors of grilled cherries, raspberries, Dr. Pepper cola, sandalwood and cinnamon spice, it has a fine acid-tannin structure.

I give it 3 maybe 3.5+ but certainly no more than 4.0 out of 5. The best pinot I've ever had was a glass of Felton Road while I was studying in New Zealand. It had a round, polished and complex cherry-vanilla thing going, whereas the Macrostie seems less smooth and more tannic. I've always wanted to try the great Burgundies, but alas, the money! I bought a case of mixed reds (France, Spain and US) and the MacRostie is definitely the best of the lot.

I'm not an avid Pinot drinker and I usually stick to 90 under 20 wines, but wanted to try something new. I chose this wine because of the Wine Enthusiast review. It was a good choice. This is one of those wines that grow on you with each glass and then is gone before you know it. It's a good time.

I bought this wine with an order of mostly more expensive Oregon pinots, but ended up liking it at least as much as most of them. It's centered and lightly fruity, but with salmon it got richer and jammier.

I believe this Pinot will get better with a little more time in the bottle. For the price however, this is a solid Pinot. Its appearance has good legs and is a touch darker than the average Pinot. The nose has hints of berries, black cherries, strawberries and plum. The tannins are the first to impress the pallet however, with a little decanting, the fruit pushes forward. There is a medium length finish that i believe will get better with some maturity. Over all, I liked this Pinot however, I think the alcohol content may be a little too high. But, if you like a boldness in your Pinot Noir, this one is for you. I liked this wine but, I think it will get better in a couple of years. I would buy it again. 91 pts.
