    Winemaker's Notes:

For both the Napa Valley and Special Selection bottlings, the goal is a balanced wine that tastes delicious when bottled but can improve with age. Chuck Wagner attributes the quality of the wines to farming and winemaking techniques developed over the decades.

    Critical Acclaim:

This extraordinary wine possesses an enormous wealth of black cherry, blueberry, cassis and espresso flavors, wrapped in fine, well-toasted oak. Has that rare quality of elegance, in which all the parts work together in harmony. Thoroughly dry, it's marked by a firm, astringent tannic structure now, but is a certain cel lar candidate.

Open fruit, rich, lush and layered, serving up a complex mix of plum, blackberry, black licorice and spices. Full-bodied and supple-textured, ending with a long, persistent finish that keeps repeating the core flavor themes. Drink now through 2018.

    Red w/Attitude (7/26/2011)
Beautiful ruby-red color; Great nose with red berries, lush fruit, toasty vanilla, some floral notes and spicy oak - subtle, not overpowering; Very smooth on the palate. . sweet tannins to match the fruit...structured & well balanced. The wine really opened up after about an hour of decanting; Long, lingering finish (I literally didn't want to swallow!!). Great to drink now - great alone - exceptional with food!! Will only get better with age! Caymus never disappoints..has always been, and will always be, one of my absolute favorite Cabs!

Big Napa cab with such a nice nose I just inhaled it. Bold flavors of fruit and still so smooth. Just wanted to hold it in my mouth to savor. One of my favorites at this price point.

This is a very good bottle of wine. It is very fruit forward and classic california cab. On the nose, I am getting black fruits, plum, blackberry, black licorice. It has a ripe nose. Midpalate, there are many layers of ripe fruits going on. Finish, this wine has firm, silky, and sexy tannins. It lingers in your mouth. It is well made and balanced. Full bodied and lush indeed. Bottled at 15.2%! Even though this wine will clearly evolve in the next 10 to 12 years, it will surprise you with its youth. I would agree with WS on 93 pts. Happy drinking!
