The Galilee (or Galil) is the most northern, and generally considered the best, appellation in Israel. The highest quality area within the appellation is the Golan Heights, the coldest region in Israel. The vineyards on this volcanic plateau rise from 400 meters (1,300 feet) above sea level to 1,200 meters (3,900 feet) and receive snowfall in the winter. Golan Heights Winery is located in the town of Katzrin, in the central Golan.
The opulent 2005 Yarden Pinot Noir exhibits fruit notes of cherry and crushed fresh berries, alongside graceful floral characters and attractive hints of chocolate and vanilla. This medium- to full-bodied wine is flavorful yet elegant.
The 2005 Yarden Pinot Noir can be enjoyed now, will improve over the coming years, and remain in good drinking condition for five to eight years. Try the 2005 Yarden Pinot with coq au vin, thin-crust wild mushroom pizza, or quail roasted with fresh rosemary.
