    Winemaker's Notes:

At Gramercy, we work with more Cabernet and Bordeaux varietal vineyard blocks than anything else. For one reason, we like the diversity of flavors across the various Washington regions. We want a bit of Horse Heaven Hills, a smidge of Yakima and a big dose of Walla Walla. We also have some younger Bordeaux varietal plantings on our estate vineyards on JB George Rd and at Octave Vineyard. When we make our traditional Cabernet blend each year, we ruthlessly select the barrels that will make the best blend possible. Sadly, that leaves a lot of terrific Cabernet and Merlot that just don't fit into our traditional bottling. So finally, we were able to craft another fantastic Cabernet to complement our lineup - Lower East Cabernet.

Why Lower East? Because Walla Walla is located in the Lower East corner of Washington and because Greg and Pam spent so much time at a favorite restaurant on the Lower East Side in NYC. We are really proud of this Cabernet - actually, we are kind of scared of it as well. We may have done such a good job with this that it will rival its big brother, our traditional Cabernet.
