    Winemaker's Notes:

Bright ruby color with aromas of cherry skin, dried cranberries smoky undertones. The palate shows more cherry and dried fruit flavors with earthy notes. Clean with a nice solid backbone completed by a racy acidity. Lots of cranberry flavors hint of strawberry. Balanced, tight, lean fruit, an ideal accompaniment to grilled fish and fowl or barbecued meats.

    Critical Acclaim:

Medium ruby color; earthy, smoky plum aromas; bit tight and restrained; plum, cranberry and cherry flavors with earthy notes; some smoky oak; good structure and balance; long finish. A bit restrained early on, this Pinot's rich fruit and earthy notes expand nicely in the glass with some air.

Nice real pinot, not a syrah-like fruit bomb! Elegant, earthy, bright acidity. I like burgundy and I love this for the price.

This was a great Pinot Noir. A smokey flavor perfect for pairing with wild mushrooms or other earthy flavors. Not a bland pinot.

Great fruity nose, enters tart and sweet on the palate and finishes with a dark woody edge. Would go great with salmon and veg.

Lots of acidity initially. Later very smooth and nice light berry fruit. A great food wine.

Not the Schug I'd hoped for. Little fruit. No finish.

I've never had a corked wine before...maybe this was a first. Stored properly; other wines in the same shipment were fine, but this was hands down the nastiest wine I've tasted...musty. Offensive to nose and palette, we dumped it down the drain after half a glass. It was corked with a synthetic wine closure, so with a 90 from PR, I must have got the runt of the litter. It was down right revolting.

This is an absolutely horrible pinot. This region makes such great pinot's, I cannot believe something this flat and sour is even being sold. It barely tasted like a pinot and is not even worth $2. Don't waste your time on this one. Anything else from Russian River or Carneros will make you happy.

First 2 bottles out of 12 are oxidized. Is that why it's on sale?!
