    Winemaker's Notes:

Angels' Share refers to the small amount of wine that evaporates from oak barrels during maturation. Medieval winemakers assumed that angels watched over the wines, and that they took their share. Selected from parcels of exceptional McLaren Vale fruit, this wine is made in a true Australian style and will appeal to both angels and mortals alike.

The color is a beautiful black with deep magenta hues.

On the nose, coming from a very good year, upon release this wine is very restrained and elegant. Spicy red fruits, subtle char and pepper with underlying charcuterie, grilled meats and soft mocha and vanillin.

A burst of juicy red fruits on the early palate that remains throughout. As the fruit builds the mocha notes become more prevalent and finally the firm but fine tannins kick in and hold the palate together, balanced with subtle vanillin oak.

    Critical Acclaim:

Big, bold and expressive, with some unexpected transparency to the black cherry, raspberry, red plum and Asian spice aromas and flavors, lingering on the open-textured finish. The aftertaste just keeps coming. Drink now through 2015. 6,300 cases made.

Deep, dense purple-red; an unequivocally full-bodied wine, full of very ripe black fruits and regional chocolate plus a generous helping of oak.

Opaque purple. Vibrant dark berry scents are complicated by smoky bacon, licorice and black pepper; showing a classic shiraz personality. Fleshy blackcurrant and boysenberry flavors pick up lavender and anise with air, along with an appealing sweetness. Fine-grained tannins come up on the finish but are absorbed by the deep, bright fruit. This wine is made from lots that missed the cut for the Lily's Garden bottling.

Very complex wine for the price. Bold yet balanced; paired wonderfully with a flat iron steak at our favorite Mexican BYOB.

Not quite as full as its more expensive counterparts from Two Hands. A good wine to watch TV with at the end of a busy day.
