    Winemaker's Notes:

Clear, deep ruby red color. On the nose, powerful aromas of ripe, red fruits (black currant) and licorice developing into leather and roasted coffee. The palate is supple and round with hints of red pepper and truffle. Good structure and a medium finish.

A 2007 French wine for under $20? An absolute no-brainer. This is a quality wine that has no doubt gotten better with age. Not sure how much longer the 2007 will remain drinkable, but I cracked this open (Nov. 2014), let it breathe for 30 minutes, then enjoyed several glasses over the course of an evening. If you enjoy, say, Guigal Cotes du Rhone, which I've found to be consistently drinkable over the years, then you should truly enjoy this wine, which I think is a cut above.
