The Chassagne Montrachet 1er cru "Abbaye de Morgeot" is a very well balanced wine, full bodied, powerful and rich. Its develops aromas of white fruits flesh as well as white flowers and honey.
It should be kept for special meals like foie gras, fish in cream sauces, shellfish and white meats in rich sauces.
Richly textured wine, with pear and citrus fruit layered over an opulent core of ripe yellow fruits and toast. It develops slowly, opening to show intense acidity, freshness and flavors.
The 2009 Chassagne-Montrachet Abbaye de Morgeot is a big wine. Despite its size, the Abbaye de Morgeot preserves considerable freshness and verve. The red, clay rich soils and small grapes with a significant millerandage contribute quite a bit to the wine's broad-shouldered, textured personality. According to Lardiere and Barnier the dry extract numbers resemble those of red wines.
Pale yellow. Pure aromas of pear, stone and white flowers. Tight and minerally, with excellent cut and definition for the vintage. The perfumed stony and floral flavors carry through nicely on the persistent aftertaste.
Ripe and nutty, delivering clove and vanilla accents to the apple pie flavor. Elegant, lively and well-balanced, with a toasty, spicy finish. Drink now through 2018.
