This Chianti Classico Riserva has a ruby red hue with a trace of garnet. The nose is elegant, displaying hints of spice and fruit. This is a well-structured wine with evident tannins and long persistance.
The 2008 Chianti Classico Riserva (Sangiovese) is a beautiful, precise wine laced with sweet dark cherries, menthol, tobacco, minerals and spices. It shows gorgeous clarity and precision in a highly appealing, mid-weight style. The Riserva spent 24 months in oak, 80% cask and 20% new barriques, a much better balance for the fruit. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2023.
Ruby-red. Penetrating aromas of raspberry, blackcurrant, violet and flint. Lush on entry, then pure, vinous and deep, with wonderful balance to the pure red fruit and mineral flavors. Finishes with even tannins and outstanding persistence, with a faint note of fresh blackcurrant providing lift on the back.
A classic rendition of Sangiovese: bright, fresh and juicy with berries and a hint of violets; tangy, charming and nervy with depth and lovely structure; long and balanced.
Blueberry and blackberry flavors are married to a lean, wiry frame. Hints of flowers and mineral add dimension, and this closes down on the finish. Needs time. To be released spring 2012. Best from 2014 through 2024.
