    Winemaker's Notes:

The "Biker" came from the west side of Paso Robles with a vengeance. Riding off the hills of Westside Paso from the Dusi and Preston Zin vineryards, where rocky, calcareous soils result in low yield vines, producing fruit of intense concentration. A splash of Mourvedre lends an extra kick in the mid-palate. The Biker has blackberry, anise spice and vanilla on the nose. Rich, black fruit and spice, long in the mouth lingering to a silky vanilla oak finish. A massive in-your-face Zin- taking no prisoners. Biker rocks!

    Critical Acclaim:

This is balanced and fruity with delicate jam and spice. Hints of hazelnut. Medium to full body, with fine tannins and a fresh finish.

A big wine for the price. A great wine to pair with food and just sip through the night.

Excellent year for the Biker, my wife's favorite Zin.

I'm a huge zinfandel fan and have enjoyed some past Four Vines vintages, however this particular vintage just was not on-par with the quality I've seen from them in the past. It was certainly bold, but it lacked complexity, character, and was anything but smooth on the finish. I shared it with a group and I cannot say that one person really enjoyed it. For the price, it certainly a painful lesson in the law of averages meaning they cannot all be winners.
