    Winemaker's Notes:

This is the wine I tell all my friends about. To see the look on their faces after their first sip is priceless. The 2011 Carnival of Love so clearly shows the essence of Mollydooker. It has elegance; a complete, intense, seamless flavour spectrum; a sumptuous mouth feel and perfect balance. At 92% Fruit Weight it is a wine to go WOW about, an absolute beauty.

Our whole family is involved in making our wines, and all the wonderful people who drink them become our friends, so we named this wine Carnival of Love, because the wines bring us together. If you look closely you will notice that the Lefty characters are all included in the label and when you join the Carnival of Love and the Enchanted Path together, the two labels form one beautiful continuous love story.

    Critical Acclaim:

Dense, deep and complex, offering a cascade of cherry, blueberry and clotted cream flavors, with a whole range of spices on a plush texture. This has an arresting presence and finishes with pizzazz.

Very deep green-purple in color, the 2011 Carnival of Love flaunts a very expressive and fragrant nose with floral notes, roses and potpourri intermingled with toasty black cherries, creme de cassis, chocolate, pepper and accents of cinnamon and cloves. Rich, ripe and full-bodied, this concentrated, single-vineyard 100% Shiraz retains crisp acid, has low to medium levels of soft silky tannins before finishing very harmoniously and long. Drink it from 2014 to 2022+.

Took a chance on this wine because of the WS rating and the deep discount. I was not disappointed. While listed as "big and bold" it is by no means overpowering with just the right fruitiness. At $49 it's a great deal. I am disappointed it is sold out, as I just went to order more! Looking forward to trying the 2012.

Tasted at 75 and 60-65 chilled temperature. Struck me as flawed at the higher temperature, a tad hot, difficulty integrating the fruit and alcohol, with the powerful, sweet, spicy finish more closely resembling that of boutique rum than wine. Proved to be a much more engaging experience at 60-65 with two hours decanting. Lots of ripe fruit, smooth tannins, creme de cassis, and a powerful, spicy finish that lasts. Needs more time. I cannot recommend this wine over the 2011 Two Left Feet, a superior execution of a difficult Australian vintage. 2010 and 2012 were keepers, 2011 is one to miss for McLaren Vale. Poor QPR.
