    Winemaker's Notes:

The Seleccion has an intense red color that borders to violet. Aromas of wild fruits and forest floor, black olives and spices. Full bodied and concentrated with notes of cocoa, spices and fruits. Soft and long with well balaned tannins.

    Blend: 85% Syrah, 15% Garnacha

    Critical Acclaim:

Opaque purple. Intensely perfumed aromas of cherry and blackberry are brightened by zesty minerality and a subtle peppery quality. Lively red and dark fruits on the palate, with black pepper and licorice nuances emerging with air. Sappy and strikingly intense for the price, finishing with excellent persistence and gentle tannic grip.

This seemed like a no-brainer from the reviews touting black pepper and licorice but it is way too tinny and dry for me. Very metallic, flat, and hard to taste the fruit. I noticed that a second bottle tasted smoother and better, so maybe it's a consistency issue.

This wine was excellent. It was smooth and very flavorful. I was able to drink it by itself and with food. The taste was great and it had a nice finish.

    Love that wine (5/31/2014)
Great for the price. Never drink more than one glass. Last night, my wife and I were by the pool - good bye, most of the bottle.

Opened this wine yesterday and wasn't impressed. Too austere. After a day on vacuum and at cellar temp, it's pretty special -- especially for the price. Pure fruit and nice aromatics. Next bottle, I'll probably open it the day before drinking. This is one of those interesting red wines you could pair with more delicate entrees, like salmon or duck.

A lovely Spanish red. Nothing to write home about, but well worth its price. I had a bunch of girlfriends over and we drank it with homemade, funky sushi (sushi with Hebrew National franks, mustard, relish, other rolls with goat cheese, caramelized onions, and roasted sweet potatoes, etc...) The wine rounded out the food nicely.

The bottle I received must have been spoiled because it was not drinkable.
