    Winemaker's Notes:

Laya is 70% Garnacha Tintorera — Alicante Bouschet — and 30% Monastrell planted around 1000 metres (3280 feet) above sea level and aged for 4 months in French oak. Garnacha Tintorera is known for its deep color and here it coats the glass and imparts aromas of brooding black fruits, licorice, espresso, and pepper. Dense, savory, and rich.

    Critical Acclaim:

The 2012 Laya, a blend of 70% Garnacha and 30% Monastrell, has a superb bouquet of pure dark cherries, blackberry and incense that would normally grace a wine far more expensive. The palate is medium-bodied with layers of succulent black fruit that is neatly entwined with the subtle French oak. It is not a complex wine, but it is supremely well-crafted for the unbeatable price. Excellent.

This wine was difficult for me to rate, as the intensity of flavor was so unexpected. If I had tasted this blindly, I would have thought it was an expensive Sonoma Zinfandel... Dark chocolate, espresso and overripe blue/black fruit are intense with an almost overly smoky/oaky nose. I do enjoy this wine but it truly does not taste like it is in the Grenache/Garnacha family. I had it with some cinnamon sugar toast and a piece of chocolate. It would definitely overpower a white meat of any sort. I would like to try it with a mole or curry though! The only component that does not remind me of a Zinfandel is the fact I noticed the legs were not as defined. Definitely worth trying at this price!

Really a 4 star wine but with the price gotta give it an extra star. Could easily sell for 2 to 3 times as much. Med to full body with tons of red and black fruits, smokey and spicy with surprisingly long finish.I with I could buy more.

A deep plum jam , dark cherry nose with bold dark currant and blackberry flavors mid palate and a dry mildly tannin finnish. A big and bold red for a very reasonable price. Pair with a strong flavored hard cheese and crusty bread or a rich flavorful beef pot roast.

A very nice red blend, especially for the price. The French oak is subtle with black cherries, blackberry and licorice gracing your palate. I found it improved after a couple hours of decanting.

This is a very good blend. Well balanced. Not too sweet, good backbone, nice richness, dry ending. Excellent table red.

Tasty and a very nice lingering berry flavor. A bigger 'body' than I was expecting. Based on taste, you would expect to pay $18.00-$20.00 in a store

OK for the price, but no great thing. Rather harsh.
