Full dark garnet with ruby highlights. Intensely perfumed nose suggests cinnamon, nutmeg, white pepper and violet. Deep raspberry and kirsch flavors coat the mouth, along with a complicating licorice nuance. Full-bodied and plush, with mouthcoating but pliant tannins. High-toned, silky, and pure, with a sweet lingering finish that evokes powdered cocoa. Luscious wine.
Wonderful aromas of roses, ripe fruit and hints of spices. Full-bodied, with beautiful, silky tannins and a finish of flowers and fruit that lasts for minutes. Best after 2003.
The 1997 Brunello di Montalcino (1,200 cases) is a dense, structured, full-bodied, intense effort revealing notes of licorice, smoke, leather, spice, and earth. With plenty of ripeness, fruit, glycerin, and concentration as well as high tannin, it will be at its finest between 2007-2017.
