    Winemaker's Notes:

Nose: Asian spices accented by nutmeg, star anise, sweet plums with a hint of earth.

Palate: Medium body with a velvety mouth feel. The palate displays plums, white pepper, dark fruits and blueberries. A chewy but not tannic finish.

Food Pairings: Stuffed mushrooms with goat cheese, butternut squash risotto, wood-fired pizza with prosciutto, stir-fried Chinese noodles with roast pork.

"This may only be a medium-bodied red, but it crackles with the exciting flavors of the northern Rhône, marrying freshly cracked peppercorns with a hint of meatiness and bright blueberry fruit."

Let it breathe for ~ 30 minutes and what you get is exceptional fruit forward enjoyment. Buy a case!

Maybe I should've let it breath, per the other reviewer (should've read that first). Anyway, maybe I would try it that way. I didn't care for it.

Opens quickly decanted - medium bodied, pepper and plum flavors abound - has an earthy feel and chewy finish - great nose, taste and structure. Highly recommended!

A medium-bodied red, with those Australian notes of blueberry jam, but backed by really good spice and structure. The viognier adds a wonderful aromatic kick.

This was one of those wines that you could sample at a tasting, like, purchase, bring home and discover that (like mall food) that it was better left as a sample. After the bottle was allowed to breathe, it had a nice blend of fruit and was very slightly dry. By the end of the first glass though, sharp tannins became more noticeable and undesirable, which carried through the entire second glass. (We share a bottle around here, so two glasses each, and both consumers found the same result.)
