Professional Ratings: 92 Australian Wine Companion

    Region: Barossa Valley, Australia

    Varietal: Syrah/Shiraz

Other Info: Screw Cap Wines, Green Wines

    Style: Smooth & Supple

    Item no. 91088

    Winemaker's Notes:

    Blend: 95% Shiraz, 5% Viognier.

Color: Deep, dark and dense reds.

Aroma: Smooth, silken and flooded with plums, cedar, vanilla and sweet jubey raspberries with just subtle whiffs of the florals of Viognier.

Palate: The wine shows rich black fruits with peppery spices, cloves and cardamon seeds, finishing with a lingering jubey coffee anise texture.

Cellar: Great now, but will also reward 5-7 years in the cellar.

Food: Perfect with a creamy veal pasta.

    Critical Acclaim:

A fragrant bouquet, then an array of cherry, plum, licorice and spice on the flowing, fruit-driven, medium-bodied palate.

A very good wine attractively priced for everyday drinking. A mild and light nectar with plumy fruit and berry flavors -- a wonderful partner for dinner with pork loin with fruit, hearty veal dishes or seafood pasta arrabiata.

Boy this one opened up quickly, if you can find it, buy some; truly delightful and versatile.

I had this one last week with salmon @ the Wildflower Inn in Northern Vermont. For the money it was terrific and accompanied the the salmon beautifully. Being a young Shiraz it was very fruit forward. This would actually be a wine that my wife would enjoy because she likes them a little sweeter, but don't fret, it is still sehr elegant!
