    Winemaker's Notes:

Deep red in color. Excellent fruit concentration. Ripe black berries and dried fruits on the palate combined with a complex and elegant attack. This wine presents a spicy fi nish with toffee and chocolate notes. A true refl ection of the Upper Maipo Valley.

Blend: 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Cabernet Franc, 1% Merlot

    Critical Acclaim:

A clear expression of Alto Maipo character, this cabernet is filled with menthol and juicy cherry flavors, its tannins as firm as they are refined. The acidity enhances the cherry tones as the wine gains in herbal, ripe red fruit flavors and depth.

Loved the change of "nose". Nice heavy smoky smell. Lingering finish with a nice balance fruit/earth.

For a $20 bottle of wine, it lives up to description - but that is it. It is presented as having a "complex and elegant" attack, but I would say it is more odd and slightly bitter. At 14.5%, I felt the aroma was shot down by the strong ALC content, but after breathing A LONG TIME, it balanced out a bit. Much better taste and dry finish than expected, but I would relegate it to a dinner wine over an "enjoyment" wine.
