    Winemaker's Notes:

Last summer we were invited to visit one of the facilities in a recently formed marketing group for several wineries in the Napa/Sonoma area. There we were shown about 10 wines and suffice it to say we bought everything they put in front of us, ranging from Carneros Pinot Noir and Chardonnay to Atlas Peak Cabernet to Alexander Valley Meritage. Everything we bought were finished bottling blend, simply excess wines above and beyond where they saw their sales projections and all ready to go right into the bottle. Go into the bottle they did this Fall.

This was wonderful, full-bodied, well-balanced red with smoky chocolate flavors coming to the fore. It paired exquisitely with a beef tenderloin I found on special, for which I whipped up a red wine pan sauce with mushrooms (using a less noble red for the sauce, btw). At $13, one better grab it before it's gone.

I just bought a bottle to try it some weeknight. I was expecting a so-so, everyday, low- key red. Not so! Good bouquet, and on the palate, this is a full body wine with ripe berries (definitely raspberry), depth, good tannins, and a curious finish - slightly salty (to me, that day). I think it could age some. It was great with steak. What a bargain! I've just bought more. Since this is mostly a Merlot & Cab S blend, if you prefer a more subtle, herbaceous, St. Emilion-like style, then get something else.

No idea what the person who reviewd this poorly is talking about - maybe a bad bottle. This is quite a sophisticated wine for the price point. Nice mouthfeel and integration of tanins. Cab dominates the blend and anyone liking rich Cali Cab will enjoy this.

This wine placed first in a wine tasting with 4 other Meritage selections. All 5 tasters voted it #1. Great wine!

This was a decent Meritage. Nothing amazing, but not undrinkable. I agree with other reviews--tastes much better the second day the bottle was opened. And even better the thrid day. Not as smooth as I'd prefer right out of the bottle but does get better with some decanting.

This is a delicious red wine. Needs a bit of decanting; much smoother the second night.

Purchased this wine on on a recomendation that it better than most similarly priced. Lot 119 is not as good as other wines that are even cheaper. Not smooth, leaves a bad taste
