    Winemaker's Notes:

Ruby red color. Red berry fruit flavors, lush mouthfeel, lovely balance, and a long finish. Great on its own or with barbeque!

    Blend: 80% Grenache, 12% Syrah, 8% Mourvèdre

"Bonus Passus" is the former Latin name of the 12th century Chartreuse de Bonpas. Today it is the home of Louis Bernard, located at the gateway of Avignon at a bon passage (good crossing point) across the Durance River. Moving from the 12th to 21st century, "Bonus Passus" offers you a new approach to wine while doing something for the environment.

As a food industry professional, I was interested in the PET packaging of this product. However, this wine is not a good endorsement of this type of packaging. There are obvious residual monomers from the bottle present in the wine (to the layman, this would be perceived as a background 'plasticky' taste), strong enough for me to make the wine undrinkable. Individual sensitivities do vary; my wife, also a trained sensory analyst, perceived the same issue but at a much lower level (she cheerfully finished the bottle).

This wine was packaged with two other PET bottled "green" wines. I found it to be sufficiently interesting in the Rhone style.

The wine is quite good. It is very smooth with a nice finish. I have a hard time with it being in a plastic bottle. If you like smooth cheap wine, you can't beat this product.

really a fairly mediocre table wine, just good for a coq au vin but not for drinking
