Fresh off our New Year’s celebrations, we’re reflecting on all the ways wine makes the important moments in life even more special, creating memories that last a lifetime. In the spirit of celebration, here are a few of our favorite winter wines to raise up in the moments that matter most to you. Cheers!
Champagne | An Obviously Elegant Choice
It might be the obvious choice for winter wine, but that doesn’t make it any less thrilling. There’s nothing quite like the elegant mousse of a fine Champagne in your glass. World-famous houses like Krug, Crystal and Dom Perignon are impressive, each with a distinctive house style. Grower Champagnes (wines produced by the same estate that owns the vineyards) have gained cult status in recent years, with producers such as J. Lassalle delivering outstanding wines at a fraction of the price.
Bordeaux | Cellar For the Future
Bordeaux is a magnificent winter wine. With a little planning, you’ll be well-positioned to celebrate years down the road. Set aside age-worthy bottles from important years now, while they’re relatively easy to find, and be sure to store them in a cool spot. Who wouldn’t want a case from their wedding, graduation or birth year?
Older Vintages | Aged to Perfection
No matter the occasion, serving a wine from a significant year is a special experience. Reds and dessert wines tend to hold up best to decades of aging, but don’t overlook white wines such as German Riesling and White Burgundy. Reminisce about the past and toast the future with one of these pristine bottles of winter wines, perfectly aged and ready to enjoy.
