Rodney Strong Reserve Chardonnay 2009
A rich, creamy style that features ripe fig, peach and honeydew melon, with broad, expansive texture and good length. Retains its elegance and finesse, ending with a smoky roasted marshmallow note. Drink now through 2018.
Here's a rich white wine that builds on subtlety rather than power. It's a vineyard and barrel selection made under the guidance of consulting winemaker David Ramey, an unfiltered wine that owes its generous texture to the lees stirring and its gentle peach and pear flavor to finely ripened fruit. It offers a quiet balance to bridge the tastes of classic California chardonnay drinkers and those who prefer a more restrained style.
Rodney Strong's 2009 Chardonnay Reserve is a gorgeous wine laced with apricots, tangerine, mint, flowers and spices. The aromas and flavors are given additional dimensions of volume through aging in French oak barrels (26% new) and full malolactic fermentation. Though quite lush at first, the wine finds its minerality and focus on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016.
