Winemaker Notes
This wine is entirely produced from the Greek grape variety of Malagousia, which was saved from extinction due to the efforts of Vangelis Gerovassiliou. It has a brilliant straw color with greenish shades and an aroma of matured fruit such as pear, mango and citrus. On the palate the rich flavors of lemon peel enhance the appealing mouthfeel, adding a well-balanced finish.
Ideal pairings include seafood, poultry, pasta dishes with light sauces fresh vegetable salads, Mediterranean and Asian cuisine.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2021 Malagousia is unoaked and comes in at 13.6% alcohol. This is sourced from 20-year-old vines. This estate makes top-notch Malagousia because it manages to combine the personality of this high-personality grape—the aromatics, the flavors—with good concentration and structure. Still, these never strike me as the most age-worthy fresh whites (here or at other places). This doesn't have a lot of energy, even if it does have fine depth, seductive flavor and enticing aromatics. In fact, it flattened a little as it warmed. So, I wouldn't hold them all that long. Aging may be the last mountain to climb for this grape in Greece, but most consumers likely knock it back young because it is so appealing when young. It will certainly hold well for several years, but the flowery aromatics and classic flavors are what this is all about, and you sure don't want to lose that.

Wine
There are hundreds of white grape varieties grown throughout the world. Some are indigenous specialties capable of producing excellent single varietal wines. Each has its own distinct viticultural characteristics, as well as aroma and flavor profiles.
As one of the few continental-climate, mountainous growing areas of Greece, Macedonia produces notable, high-quality red wines. Xinomavro is its star variety, capable of making a spicy and age-worthy red.
