Winemaker Notes
The 2013 Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon’s dark fruits, rich palate and fine tannin structure make it a versatile companion at the dinner table. Though a natural pairing for a flavorful steak, such as ribeye or filet mignon, this wine’s balance of fruit, tannin and acidity beautifully complement grilled or roasted dishes, such as herb-crusted lamb, pork belly or rosemary chicken. Its dark fruit flavors will also stand up to aged cheddar cheese and richer meals, such as veal tenderloin with a wine sauce, mushroom risotto or duck confit. Recommended to decant for 45 to 60 minutes to elevate aromas and flavors.
Blend: 75.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15.5% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot; 1.5% Malbec; 0.5% Cabernet Franc

Open and lush, this is a statement of elegance unfolding. Red fruit morphs to dark, and balance is evident. This is one of the more light-hearted vintages for this expressive red. Drinking now is praiseworthy, but age-ability is clearly marked for future pleasure.

Decanter
One of my favourite recent vintages of Jordan, this dark, dense, rich wine has both a powerful structure and vibrant energy. The growing season started out warm and dry, but moderate weather throughout the summer built the wine’s concentrated flavours, fine tannins, and more complexity than usual. It feels like a wine that will live a long, long time.

This food-friendly wine is most remarkable for its structure and gracefulness on the palate. Herbal on the entry, it offers grip and elegance within sturdy elongated tannins, a note of brushy cedar and sage and integrated French oak.

Wine
Jordan Vineyard & Winery focuses on just three things: Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and hospitality. John Jordan’s guiding philosophy is that every vintage, every meal, and every tasting should be better than the last. There is a relentless drive to constantly perfect the craft.
Jordan wines are made in a more European style that allows them to pair well with a broad range of foods. Winemaking decisions emphasize the wine’s fruit and acidity rather than alcohol and tannin, and achieving elegance and balance in the bottle drives all that Jordan does in the vineyards and cellar. More than three-quarters of the 1,200 acres that surround the Jordan Winery Chateau remain wild, open spaces that myriad animals and plants call home. Preserving natural habitat and conserving resources are two tenets in sustainability efforts. The winery runs almost entirely on solar energy, and the vineyards and winery are certified sustainable.
As one of California’s iconic producers of classic Cabernet Sauvignon, John Jordan believes that the success should be used for a greater good beyond the glass. Since 2012, a large portion of the profits from Jordan Winery fund The John Jordan Foundation, which works to fight the negative effects of poverty in communities through education and health services.
