Winemaker Notes
Torrione marks the beginning of the Petrolo’s quality revolution. It is considered to be the true identity of Petrolo, made with a blend of grapes from all of the estate’s vineyards. With a blend of Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon, Torrione is also in keeping with Tuscan tradition of adding Bordeaux varieties to Sangiovese and instilling a sense of place in the French varieties, lending them a distinctly Tuscan character.

James Suckling
Very perfumed with sweet-berry and fresh-flower aromas that already show brightness and beauty. Perfumed. Full-bodied with very well-integrated tannins and pure, vivid fruit at the finish. This is all in finesse and depth. Drinkable now, but better in a couple of years.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The Petrolo 2019 Torrione is Sangiovese with with smaller parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. This is a terrific wine with an exciting delivery of fresh and bold fruit that recalls pressed cherry and wild plum. One of the main features of the 2019 vintage is that standout concentration. The wine delivers good texture and richness, yet the intensity is well played and contained. A lingering note of sweetness that I also notice on Petrolo's other 2019 releases is present here. Best After 2022.

Decanter
Sweet oak spices with strawberry fruits and some juicy cherries with spicy undertones and hints of leather and cigar box.

Wine & Spirits
This appealing blend of sangiovese (80 percent) with merlot and cabernet sauvignon offers juicy black cherry and plum flavors in a midweight frame with mouthwatering acidity that makes it a great partner at the dinner table.

Legendary in Italy for its Renaissance art and striking landscape, Tuscany is also home to many of the country’s best red wines. Sangiovese reigns supreme here, as either the single varietal, or a dominant player, in almost all of Tuscany’s best.
A remarkable Chianti, named for its region of origin, will have a bright acidity, supple tannins and plenty of cherry fruit character. From the hills and valleys surrounding the medieval village of Montalcino, come the distinguished and age-worthy wines based on Brunello (Sangiovese). Earning global acclaim since the 1970s, the Tuscan Blends are composed solely of international grape varieties or a mix of international and Sangiovese. The wine called Vine Nobile di Montepulciano, composed of Prognolo Gentile (Sangiovese) and is recognized both for finesse and power.
