The To Kalon vineyard was one of the top sites in 2016, and the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Lithology Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard knocks it out of the park. Sporting a vibrant purple color and straight-up off the charts notes of black raspberries, cassis, flowery spice, and incense, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness and power, a multi-dimensional texture, and a huge finish, all while staying light and elegant on the palate. As sexy and opulent as it gets, drink this magical elixir any time over the coming 15-20 years. This cuvée spent 22 months in 80% new French oak. Hats off to winemaker Philippe Melka for another tour de force in Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon!

The Somm Journal
The previous vintage’s notes of toasted graham cracker crust and salted dark chocolate appear on the nose alongside explosive aromas of black cherry and ripe blackberry. Marvelously rich and compact, the palate is layered with red, black, and blue fruit, and the lengthy finish of blackberry tart is supported by fine French oak tannins.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
2016 Lithology Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon has an amazingly profound nose of Indian spices, incense, crushed rocks and potpourri over a core of crème de cassis, preserved plums and blueberry pie with wafts of cedar chest and chocolate box. The palate is full-bodied and oh-so-decadent in the mouth with beautifully ripe, plush tannins and background freshness pushing the layered fruit to the forefront, finishing very long and very seductive. Wine
One of the most prestigious wines of the world capable of great power and grace, Napa Valley Cabernet is a leading force in the world of fine, famous, collectible red wine. Today the Napa Valley and Cabernet Sauvignon are so intrinsically linked that it is difficult to discuss one without the other. But it wasn’t until the 1970s that this marriage came to light; sudden international recognition rained upon Napa with the victory of the Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars 1973 Cabernet Sauvignon in the 1976 Judgement of Paris.
Cabernet Sauvignon undoubtedly dominates Napa Valley today, covering half of the land under vine, commanding the highest prices per ton and earning the most critical acclaim. Cabernet Sauvignon’s structure, acidity, capacity to thrive in multiple environs and ability to express nuances of vintage make it perfect for Napa Valley where incredible soil and geographical diversity are found and the climate is perfect for grape growing. Within the Napa Valley lie many smaller sub-AVAs that express specific characteristics based on situation, slope and soil—as a perfect example, Rutherford’s famous dust or Stags Leap District's tart cherry flavors.
