Made from 100% Sangiovese Grosso hand-harvested from younger vines in the Altesino and Velona estate vineyards. The must remains in contact with the skins for 7-10 days. After fermentation, the wine is aged in large Slovenian oak barrels for eight months.
This classic Rosso offers a brilliant ruby-red color with intoxicating aromas of ripened blackberries and dark cherries. On the palate, the wine is round, rich and well-balanced with a fruit-forward profile coupled with hints of leather. Recommended with pasta with meat sauces, and hearty game or beef casseroles.

Altesino's 2008 Rosso di Montalcino is an attractive, fresh red to enjoy over the next few years. Pretty floral and spice notes add complexity to the fruit on the vinous finish. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2012.
