Altos las Hormigas Malbec 2009
Opens with tarry, cooked aromas but with airing, oak and ripe, earthy berry notes squeak out. The palate is chewy and solid, with extract and tannic grab as well as smoky, sultry flavors of roasted blackfruits and bouillon. Meaty and satisfying.
Bright ruby-red. Currant, flowers and spices on the nose. A pure, spicy midweight with good density of material but an enticing light touch and good cut. This easygoing malbec is always a very good value.
