This dark, suave red mixes creamy cassis and dark blackberry coulis notes with layers of mocha, spice and savory cured olive. Compact, with fine tannins and juicy acidity pushing along the fruit-filled finish. Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.

The 2010 Unisono is a blend of 67% Malbec, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Cabernet Franc from La Consulta in the Finca Piedras Blancas vineyard in the Uco Valley. Approximately two-thirds is raised in French oak for 13 months. It has an impressive bouquet, rich and generous with scents of dark plum, boysenberry, fresh dates and a smear of dark chocolate. The aromatics are well-defined and open nicely over the course of one hour. The palate is full-bodied with a supple, luscious entry. There are layers of sweet dark plum, mocha and licorice fruit with just a touch of alcoholic burn at the back of the throat. It does have a gloriously seductive, velvety texture and the rounded cashmere finish is a delight. This is a well-crafted, opulent Malbec blend that offers immediate drinking pleasure (and a payload of 15.5% alcohol).

Pedro Angulo and Angel Innocenti were winegrowers in their native Europe – Pedro in the Basque country and Angel in Tuscany. They immigrated to Argentina in the late 19th century and through hard work and perseverance found great success in their commercial activities.

Today the Angulo and Innocenti families have rekindled their immigrant winemaking roots. Alejandro Angulo and Mariano Innocenti, 3rd and 4th generation family members respectively, have decided to celebrate Pedro and Angel’s vintner past with the development of a unique terroir in La Consulta.

Most distinguished and celebrated from Argentina’s Mendoza, Malbec has seen runaway success since the early 2000s. Mendoza’s agreeable, continental climate with hot, dry summers and cold snowy winters allows the perfect conditions for growing outstanding Malbec. This grape is easy to like for its lusty, deep flavors and aromas of blackberry, plum, red cherry, autumn spice and tilled earth. It’s easy to find delicious, fruit-driven, affordable everyday examples and in prices beyond, quite exceptional ones with dense, supple textures that make them capable of aging.
