Winemaker Notes

Please note the color saturation, clarity and health of this wine. Initial aromatics offer a charming blend of black cherry pie, blood oranges and cocoa powder. Tertiary aromas of smoked tea leaves, charcuterie and Tahitian vanilla meld together into a distinct and engaging array of aromatics. Across the palate the wine offers plush tannins and enticing freshness. The 2014 CIX is a dynamic wine from a memorable vintage. Suggested drinking window is 2018 through 2029.

Made entirely from a clone from the most famous vineyard in Burgundy, the 2014 Cix offers crisp acid, loads of black raspberry, forest floor and blueberry fruit, and tremendous density, richness, and intensity. (It’s interesting to note that these 2014s are all in bottle while the Chardonnays are still in tank awaiting bottling.) This is a wine with great fruit, terrific acids and a long finish. It should evolve for 10 or more years.

Aubert The Passion of Elegant Farming Winery Image

Mark Aubert’s Sonoma Coast vineyard-designate Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs have risen in popularity at a dizzying speed. Aubert’s career in winemaking began in 1989 at Peter Michael under the tutelage of Helen Turley, which led to his time at Colgin, Sloan, Futo and then Bryant Family, before founding Aubert Wines with his wife Teresa in 1999. His wines express the essence of singular terroirs with an effortless grace. Mark crafts the wines of Aubert to speak to a variety of wine lovers with one thing in common – selective palates that expect nothing but the best.
