Winemaker Notes
The 2015 UV-SL Vineyard Chardonnay showcases its cool coastal origin, but with Aubert flare. Please note the greenish hue on the edge of the glass, which is indicative of the health of the wine. Sense of place is displayed in the wine’s flinty mineral, apple blossom and sweet herb aroma. A botanical impression is present in the mouth as well with lemon thyme, finger lime and green tea oil. More classic flavors of baked apple and marzipan are carried by laser-like acidity. Tightly wound, the 2015 UV-SL will take a couple years to relax and then drink superbly well for a decade or more. The wine is slightly hazy showing our commitment to minimal intervention winemaking.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2015 Chardonnay UV-SL, which is also an Old Wente clone, and the coldest of all of the Aubert Chardonnay sites, should come close to being a perfect Chardonnay with a few years of age. Plenty of exotic fruits, intense richness, an incredible, fragrant nose of honeysuckle, orange marmalade, caramelized citrus, white peach and a subtle hint of pineapple are all present in this incredibly full-bodied, rich, thick wine buttressed by considerable natural acids. This wine should drink well for at least a dozen or more years.

Stone and mineral aromas with sliced apple and lemon. Flint. White peaches. Full body, bright acidity and a tangy finish. Long and tight. Very long. Energy.

Mark Aubert’s Sonoma Coast vineyard-designate Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs have risen in popularity at a dizzying speed. Aubert’s career in winemaking began in 1989 at Peter Michael under the tutelage of Helen Turley, which led to his time at Colgin, Sloan, Futo and then Bryant Family, before founding Aubert Wines with his wife Teresa in 1999. His wines express the essence of singular terroirs with an effortless grace. Mark crafts the wines of Aubert to speak to a variety of wine lovers with one thing in common – selective palates that expect nothing but the best.
