Winemaker Notes

Intense, deep ruby red color with subtle glimmers of garnet. The wine shows a splendid, full nose with hints of blackberries and pleasant notes of tobacco and spice. In the mouth, the wine is soft with an elegant, fresh finish and a persistent, generous acidity in the aftertaste. Full of mature tannins and fruitiness.

Critical Acclaim

RP 91
The Wine Advocate

The 2008 Chianti Classico Riserva is gorgeous, especially for a vintage that was not easy. Black cherries, mint, licorice and tobacco are supported by firm yet well-integrated tannins and lively acidity, both of which should allow the wine to age gracefully for a number of years. The 2008 could still use another year or two to soften, but it is gorgeous, even today. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2018.

Saturated red. Spicy nuances of bay leaf, oregano, and clove complement dark cherry and underbrush aromas. Suave and fine-grained, with lovely inner-mouth energy, this refined Chianti is savory rather than sweet, with flavors of dark fruits and minerals dominating. The long finish shows broad tannins and a suggestion of menthol austerity.
