A beautiful dark, cherry-colored wine with violet hues. Clean and nice on the nose aromas of wild berries, blueberries, cherries and plums, together with some soothing hints of balm.

Tajinaste is run by the indefatigable Agustín García Farrais. He works alongside his parents, Cecila ("Chilla") and Agustin Snr. who are both 70 years old going on 30.

The bodega was started by Agustín’s grandfather. They own 3 hectares and rent 9 hectares w/ 25-year contracts with their neighbors. They buy grapes from another 16 hectares worth of vineyards, so the total under management is 28 hectares. The bodega is named for the beautiful flower that grows on Tenerife, depicted on the labels.

Having trained in Bordeaux, Agustín is a precise winemaker. His oldest vines were planted in 1914. He vinifies each parcel separately, which has allowed him to get to know the true character of each vineyard such that he can masterfully blend extremely consistent and beguiling wines year after year.

The Canary Islands are the southernmost Northern Hemisphere wine region. Because of such a dry climate, grape vines grown on the island are coiled in small craters in the volcanic soil which shelter them from the strong, sun-baked winds. This is the perfect climate for Listan Negro, which is vinified in several styles, from delicate, food-friendly rosés to light and fruity reds made by carbonic maceration (the technique used to make Beaujolais Nouveau), to traditionally-vinified reds aged in oak.

Set of islands off the coast of Morocco and south of Madeira that host a wide range of indigenous and unique grape varieties. Soils are volcanic and recent subsidies from the local government has led to a revival of the islands’ old vines.
