Aromas of cocoa and minerals come through in this balanced Cabernet Sauvignon. The upfront fruit is full and round, while the tannins in the mid-palate are dense and full of red fruit like pomegranate and cranberry. Darker flavors like plum and cherry and a hint of toasted oak are more prominent in the lingering finish.
This is a full-bodied Cabernet that should be paired with a well-marbled Ribeye or Porterhouse steak for a perfect balance.

A solid effort, the well-built 2014 Twisted Paso Cabernet Sauvignon by Calcareous Winery does not hold pack its generosity when it comes to beautiful ripe fruit flavors. The wine's fine balance and well-managed tannins prime it perfectly for grilled beef. (Tasted: April 5, 2017, San Francisco, CA)
Father and daughter Lloyd Messer and Dana Brown realized their dream of finding a place to express their passion for wine in 2000, when they established Calcareous Vineyards on one of the highest limestone plateaus on Paso Robles’ westside. Both Lloyd and Dana, experienced wine distributors in their native Iowa, recognized the westside of Paso Robles had potential to produce world class wines. Their acquisition of 442 acres atop solid calcareous rock reaching 1,800 feet above sea level confirmed their dedication to producing the highest quality, terroir driven wines possible. It is a labor of love to cultivate fruit on this challenging land, but the reward is immediately apparent when tasting the wines. Calcareous has for over a decade now, produced a collection of world–class blends and varietal wines that exhibit Paso Robles’ claim to being "distinct, different." Lloyd passed on in 2006, and Dana advances their vision.
