Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2014 Sauvignon Blanc sees around 10% barrel aging, the rest in stainless steel, including 3% Sémillon. It has a crisp, grass clipping and asparagus-tinged nose that opens nicely with aeration. The palate is very well balanced with a citrus opening, lively and focused with a precise, almost clinical finish that lingers long in the mouth. Ho-hum...another superb Savvy from CPV.

Capable of a vast array of styles, Sauvignon Blanc is a crisp, refreshing variety that equally reflects both terroir and varietal character. Though it can vary depending on where it is grown, a couple of commonalities always exist—namely, zesty acidity and intense aromatics. This variety is of French provenance. Somm Secret—Along with Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc is a proud parent of Cabernet Sauvignon. That green bell pepper aroma that all three varieties share is no coincidence—it comes from a high concentration of pyrazines (herbaceous aromatic compounds) inherent to each member of the family.
Situated on the western edges of Cape Peninsula, the vineyards in this cool-climate, maritime district of Cape Town grow within one kilometer to the sea in most directions.
Cape Peninsula is recognized mainly for Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon and includes the small region of Constantia where the Dutch governor, Simon van der Stel founded an extremely successful vineyard in the 17th century.
