Winemaker Notes

Our 2009 Sauvignon Blanc captures the character of the variety, the complexity of our site and the coolness of the vintage. The nose offers peach, mango, Butterscotch Melon and lemon. The flavors add mango, passion fruit, and Musque to the mix. While this Sauvignon Blanc is ripe and powerful, it also possesses the ample structure and acidity to age.

Critical Acclaim

WE 92
Wine Enthusiast

When it comes to rich, barrel-influenced Sauvignon Blanc, Chalk Hill is a consistent producer. The last few vintages have been brilliant. So is this 2009. The oak is obviously there in the smoky, buttered toast, but the underlying fruit is ripe in pineapple, limes, peaches and citron fruit, while acidity provides the perfect scout of clean balance.

WS 90
Wine Spectator

Pineapple, lemon, green apple and nectarine flavors are mingled with a crunchy acidity, making this refreshing and lively. This is smooth, aromatic and balanced, especially on the long finish. Drink now. 7,000 cases made.
