The 1996 enjoyed eight weeks of maceration, resulting in an opaque purple-colored wine with the essence of Syrah fruit presented in a dominating, formidable personality. The wine is rich, expansive, thick, and intense. Although there is plenty of tannin and acidity, the fruit is driving the wine at present. It will require three to four years of cellaring, and will age for two decades.
