Named for producer Charlie Heintz' mother, who once cared for the family ranch and vineyard, this salty, herbal wine opens exquisitely in Key lime pie and orange blossom. A nutty afternote follows the first set of flavors, all around a core of balanced minerality and oak, finishing with a bite of graham cracker.

Charles Heintz, California
Heintz Ranch has been family-owned since 1912. Our coastal vineyard is located in the cool climate of the Sonoma Coast/Russian River Valley/Green Valley growing region where the highly sought-after Heintz Ranch Grapes are grown and cared for by Charles Heintz. Heintz Ranch grapes are featured in many of California's finest wines including our own Heintz & Dutch Bill Creek wines. Our grapes are field selected and masterfully created into small lots of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah. Our wines are truly hand-crafted from grower to winemaker. Between our two labels Heintz and Dutch Bill Creek, we bottle less than 1,000 cases. Our wines are the perfect choice for the wine lover who enjoys consistently outstanding and highly rated wines from a family-owned winery with small lot production. We invite you to join our mailing list and look forward to our family meeting yours.

One of the most popular and versatile white wine grapes, Chardonnay offers a wide range of flavors and styles depending on where it is grown and how it is made. While it tends to flourish in most environments, Chardonnay from its Burgundian homeland produces some of the most remarkable and longest lived examples. California produces both oaky, buttery styles and leaner, European-inspired wines. Somm Secret—The Burgundian subregion of Chablis, while typically using older oak barrels, produces a bright style similar to the unoaked style. Anyone who doesn't like oaky Chardonnay would likely enjoy Chablis.

A vast appellation covering Sonoma County’s Pacific coastline, the Sonoma Coast AVA runs all the way from the Mendocino County border, south to the San Pablo Bay. The region can actually be divided into two sections—the actual coastal vineyards, marked by marine soils, cool temperatures and saline ocean breezes—and the warmer, drier vineyards further inland, which are still heavily influenced by the Pacific but not quite with same intensity.

Contained within the appellation are the much smaller Fort Ross-Seaview and Petaluma Gap AVAs.

The Sonoma Coast is highly regarded for elegant Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and, increasingly, cool-climate Syrah. The wines have high acidity, moderate alcohol, firm tannin, and balanced ripeness.
