James Suckling
Vibrant fruits of plums and morello cherries with a touch of iodine, spices and mineral. Crunchy and medium-bodied on the palate with plenty of fresh, fine-grained tannins. Not a wine of excellent depth but the freshness and approachability are applaudable. 60% cabernet sauvignon, 30% merlot, 5% cabernet franc and 5% petit verdot. Drink now through to 2030.

Jeb Dunnuck
The 2021 Château Carbonnieux has a modern vibe, with plenty of new oak on the nose, yet it brings solid depth of fruit, medium-bodied richness, fine tannins, and solid overall balance. It's certainly nicely made and might end up being an outstanding wine, and it should absorb some of its oak with just short-term aging. Barrel Sample : 88-90

Marc Perrin acquired and restored the chateau in 1956. His son, Antony, currently manages the estate. The gravelly soil at Carbonnieux is perfectly drained thanks to the Eau Blanche stream that carries away any excess water. The 85 hectares of vines are evenly divided between red and white wine varieties. The white wine is fermented and aged in barrel for 10 months. The red wine is aged for 15 to 18 months in barrel, depending on the quality and characteristics of the vintage.
