A comforting lull. Pagodes de Cos Blanc inspires a feeling of serenity, as time slows down and one can savor the simple pleasures of spending time with loved ones. Like an old friend, Pagodes de Cos Blanc is genial and spontaneous, recalling the delights of a carefree stroll or a moment of bliss in a garden filled with fragrant blossoms, as it offers an intense, delicate feeling of calm.

This is a really pretty second wine, showing a very contrastive palate of dried lemons and mangos with zingy acidity. Full-bodied and layered with a vivid finish. 90% sauvignon blanc and 10% semillon. Barrel Sample: 94-95

A strong buy signal from me in this vintage, far less serious and intellectual than the main estate white, this is perky and delicious and easy to drink. Full of creamy apricot and white peach, accented by white flowers and citrus peel. Reminds me of Les Hauts de Smith in terms of striking the right balance between exuberance and grip, and being extremely moreish. 3.15pH. Harvest began August 31, through to 10 September.

Cos d'Estournel's 2020 Pagodes de Cos Blanc is composed of 90% Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Semillon, with an alcohol of 14.2% and a pH of 3.11. The harvest took place August 31–September 10 with a yield of 24 hectoliters per hectare. It is aging in French oak barrels, 8% new. It opens with compelling scents of green guava, yellow apple and pear tart, followed by hints of shaved almonds, nutmeg and white pepper with a hint of crushed rocks. The medium-bodied palate is clean and refreshing with bags of apple and pear-inspired flavors and a spicy kick to the finish. Barrel Sample: 89 - 91

Chateau Cos d'Estournel is a Grand Cru vineyard located in St. Estephe. Its oriental facade is adorned with three pagoda turrets, all cast in a soft golden sandstone. Chateau Cos d'Estournel today covers 170 acres separated from Chateau Lafite, along the southern edge, by the stream between St. Estephe and Pauillac. The gravelly soil, over a flint, limestone and silicate subsoil low in nitrogen, has eroded over centuries to form steep ridges which perfectly drain the vineyards. The vineyards are planted 60 percent in Cabernet Sauvignon vines, 2 percent of Cabernet Franc, and 38 percent in Merlot. Naturally, the percentage of Cabernet or Merlot in the composition of each vintage depends on the climate which favors one grape variety or the other.
