Winemaker Notes

This 2010 presents an incredible deep purple color. Lot of fruits and already showing an appealing soft roundness on the palate. Incredibly soft tannins supported by a wonderful acidity that provides a remarkably long finish.

Grape Varieties: 95% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc

Critical Acclaim

RP 94
The Wine Advocate

Concentrated black fruits intermixed with spring flowers, some high class, subtle toasty oak, graphite and a touch of blackberry and cassis all jump from the glass of this dense, full-bodied, formidably endowed, massive wine. It needs a good 5-7 years of cellaring. This could turn out to be one of the longest-lived wines ever made at Fonplegade, lasting 25-30 or more years.
Rating: 94+

Wine Enthusiast

Very jammy fruit, where the sweetness seems to dominate. It is accessible, the tannins open, opulent, with a ripe structure. It works though, as a rich wine.

Focused and precise, with pretty dark fruits and hints of vanilla. Full and silky. Very attractive.

Wine Spectator

Dark linzer torte and currant preserves notes are allied to a solid graphite spine and backed by a licorice-infused finish. Drink now through 2021.
