A really bright and vivid red with a medium body, fine tannins and a fresh finish. Delicate chocolate and berry character at the end. Hints of citrus. Refined. Traditional in a lovely sense.

Jeb Dunnuck
The 2022 Château La Patache is an attractive, elegant Pomerol based on 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc that's aging in 30% new French oak. Floral notes of framboise, black cherries, candied violets, and spice define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied, with nicely integrated tannins, good mid-palate depth, and outstanding length. Tasted twice.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The medium to full-bodied 2022 La Patache offers up aromas of dark berries such as cassis, flowers including violets and peonies and a fleshy, concentrated mouthfeel enhanced by refined tannins that lead the way to a long, penetrating, graphite-driven finish. This blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc is a real success.

Decanter
Ripe and open, immediately quite expressive with ample tannins that give a wide mouthfeel and sense of body. Plum, blackcurrant and red cherry fruit on the palate. Loses a touch of persistence, but well worked with a lovely clarity of fruit. A lighter take on the vintage, not trying too hard to extract what wasn't there and for that it’s very drinkable and enjoyable with some liquorice and oak spice on the finish. Tasted twice. 30% new barrels and 70% 1 wine. 3.67pH. Yield: 35 hl/ha.

The plots are located on soils of a wide variety and complexity - soil composed of fine gravels with crasse de fer and clay in the subsoil.
La Patache is a locality on the national road 89 (Bordeaux-Lyon), whose name evokes this kind of coaches which went there in ancient times. Indeed, in the nineteenth century, « les pataches » were horse carriages that served as stagecoach in the countryside. The locality La Patache in Pomerol can be found on the first Napoleonic maps.
The original stone buildings were in fact former a post office at the entrance of Libourne. It is in the renovated stables that in 2012 we installed a modern winery and cellars. The old post office building has been refitted into a barrel cellar.
