Blend: 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec
Ripe strawberries and vanilla. Some sweet tobacco and nutmeg. Round and full on the palate with really ripe, almost jammy fruit and soft fine tannins. Firm and juicy. Give this another two or three years of bottle age. Always excellent.
Chateau Puygueraud is located in one of the smallest of the Bordeaux appellations, Cotes de Francs. With only 450 hectares, this appelation resembles a small independent state and occupies the highest slopes of the Gironde, halfway between the valleys of the Isle and the Dordogne, to the east of Saint Emilion.
