Winemaker Notes
Dark ruby and deep color. The nose is intense and complex, it reveals aromas of red and black berries. Wood aromas still present, are elegant and spicy, which will bring a beautiful complexity during the ageing. In mouth, the wine is silky, round and persistent. Blend: 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc

James Suckling
A savory and rich red with ripe tannins and sweet fruit. Dark chocolate and walnuts, too. Medium-to full-bodied, extremely long and beautiful. Lovely finish. Needs at least three or four years to soften.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2014 Sansonnet comes from the namesake lieu-dit less than one kilometer east of Saint-Emilion. It has a ripe, quite powerful bouquet with layers of dark berry, cedar fruit and a touch of apricot. The palate is medium-bodied with fine structure, linear in style with an attractive bitter cherry edge on the graphite-tinged finish. This is very classy, just as it was in barrel and now in bottle. Go seek out this beautifully made Saint Emilion.

Wine Spectator
A seriously dark, hefty style, featuring a large core of fig and blackberry paste riveted with ganache and espresso notes. Shows ample cut, with a wave of tobacco leaf coming through, offering a glimpse of purity on the finish. Best from 2020 through 2030.

Doctor in pharmacy, Marie-Benedicte Lefevere has taken over the management at Chateau Sansonnet since 2009. It is in the cellars of the family properties in Pomerol and Saint-Emilion that culture and passion for wine was passed on to her. It is now with a lot of ambition and determination that she imagines the future of the production for Chateau Sansonnet, putting all her will and attachment to the property to hoist it to the top of the appellation.
Chateau Sansonnet is located in the North East corner of Saint-Emilion in the heart of the Grands Classified Growths. The exceptional terroir is composed of a thin layer of clay on limestone. Jean Trias, technical manager, has always been passionate by the world of wine. He held positions and responsibilities in many properties before settling at Chateau Sansonnet in 2000 where he strives to develop the best wines.
