Chateau St. Jean Cinq Cepages 2001
Deep inky purple hue. Heady nose of plum, boysenberry, mint and baker's chocolate. Tart and tangy on entry with a huge, red fruit profile that accompanies dusty mocha and oak-laced tannins. Opulent close offers coconut and dark chocolate with perfectly balanced acidity.
A lovely Cab, elegant and harmonious. Strikes an even balance between cherry and blackberry flavors, smoky oak, sweet herbs, cocoa and spice. The tannins are beautifully ripe and soft. Of all these qualities, balance is foremost.
Beautifully crafted, dark, rich and layered, with blackberry, cherry, plum and wild berry fruit that zooms across the palate, holding a tight focus and finishing with a long, complex aftertaste. The tannins firm up nicely on the finish.
