Deep purpled crimson. A pure and perfumed cabernet berry lift headlines this vineyard. Blue fruits in background with lavender, violet and rose petal florals are denominated by savory notes of couch leather, cigar and tobacco. Long, fine-grained tannins are balanced within an elegant varietal expression. The chalky but not dry extract complements the remarkably feminine composure of this vineyard. The Brookman site is dogeared with sustained softness and plush-ness which makes for a beautifully understated and vivid expression of Cabernet Sauvignon.
The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Brookman Vineyard is a fleshy effort with gobs of flavor. It, too, will be approachable young but should drink well through 2026.
Dark violet. Spicy cherry and plum on the nose. Zesty pepper, herbs and baking spices emerge with aeration and carry onto the palate, which displays sweet redcurrant and cherry flavors. Dusty tannins add grip but are slowly absorbed by the fruit, which becomes more lush on the long, lightly chewy back end. This will benefit from some cellar time.
