Winemaker Notes

The bright garnet colour opens the door for vibrant aromatics packed with ripe cherries enhanced by subtle spice. It is an expressive wine with a rich, velvety texture, bright aromatics and true varietal character.

Critical Acclaim

WS 89
Wine Spectator

Robust, offering plenty of fresh black cherry and plum flavors that are extremely juicy and intense, with cigar box and spice details and firm tannins.

WE 88
Wine Enthusiast

This chunky, beefy Pinot Noir offers plenty of flavor for a realistic price. Hints of smoke, violet and tomato leaf add complexity to the black cherry fruit. The finish is long and lightly dusted with tannins. Editors' Choice.

Our home is the famed Marlborough winegrowing region on New Zealand’s South Island. Our name comes from nearby Clifford Bay, located at the eastern entrance of the Cook Strait and the Tasman Sea. To the north are the stunning White Cliffs and beyond that is Cloudy Bay. Since our first vintage in 1997 we have worked diligently to produce fruit-driven wines that are finely balanced, refreshing and pure.
